NDIS Occupational Therapy
Empowering You to Live Life to the Fullest, on Your Own Terms
Welcome to Transformative Occupational Therapy
At Care Loop Health, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to participate fully in the activities that bring meaning, joy, and purpose to their lives. Sometimes, physical, cognitive, sensory, or environmental barriers can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming. That is where our expert NDIS Occupational Therapy (OT) services step in.
Occupational Therapy is not just about finding a job—in this context, an "occupation" refers to any meaningful activity that occupies your time. This includes self-care (showering, dressing), productivity (school, work, volunteering), and leisure (hobbies, socializing). Our highly qualified Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with you to identify the barriers holding you back and develop practical, evidence-based solutions to help you achieve maximum independence and a higher quality of life.
How Can a Care Loop Health Occupational Therapist Help?
Our OT practitioners take a deeply personalized, holistic approach. We don't just look at a diagnosis; we look at you as a whole person, analyzing how your physical abilities, cognitive processing, and physical environment interact.
Whether you need to relearn skills after an injury, require sensory support for neurodivergence, or need specialized equipment to navigate your home safely, our team is equipped to support you across the lifespan—from early childhood to adulthood.
Our Core Occupational Therapy Services
Comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
A core component of our OT offering is providing detailed, NDIA-compliant Functional Capacity Assessments. We evaluate how your disability impacts your daily life across mobility, self-care, communication, and social interaction. These robust reports are vital for securing the correct NDIS funding during initial applications or plan reviews.
Assistive Technology (AT) Prescription
Sometimes, the right tool can completely change your life. Our therapists are experts in assessing your physical needs and prescribing appropriate Assistive Technology. This ranges from low-cost, low-risk items (like specialized cutlery, dressing aids, or weighted blankets) to high-cost, complex equipment (like customized wheelchairs, pressure care mattresses, or motorized hoists). We handle the assessment, trials, and NDIS funding applications for you.
Minor and Major Home Modifications
Your home should be your safe haven. If your current living environment is restricting your independence, our OTs can conduct comprehensive home safety assessments. We recommend and facilitate NDIS-funded modifications, such as installing grab rails, widening doorways, constructing wheelchair ramps, or designing accessible, step-free bathrooms.
Sensory Processing and Emotional Regulation
For participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or other neurodivergent profiles, navigating a neurotypical world can be exhausting. Our OTs specialize in sensory integration therapies. We help you understand your unique sensory profile and develop customized sensory diets and regulation strategies to manage overwhelm, improve focus, and reduce anxiety in daily life.
Daily Living Skills Development
Working hand-in-hand with our capacity-building teams, our OTs break down complex daily activities into manageable steps. We provide hands-on coaching to improve fine and gross motor skills, helping you master personal hygiene, meal preparation, household chores, and community navigation.
The Care Loop Health Difference
Mobile and Clinic-Based Support
We understand that therapy is often most effective in the environment where the challenges occur. That’s why our Occupational Therapists offer flexible delivery, including mobile visits to your home, school, or workplace, as well as sessions in our accessible clinics and via Telehealth.
Evidence-Based Practice
Our clinical team strictly adheres to the latest research and NDIS Best Practice Guidelines, ensuring that the interventions we use are proven to be safe and effective.
Collaborative Care
We work closely with your entire support network, including your Support Coordinator, Speech Pathologists, Habit Coaches, and family members, to ensure all your therapies are aligned and moving toward the same NDIS goals.
Understanding NDIS Funding for Occupational Therapy
Accessing Occupational Therapy through Care Loop Health is straightforward if you have the appropriate NDIS funding. Our OT services are funded under the Capacity Building budget, specifically within the following category:
- Improved Daily Living Skills (CB Daily Living)
If your OT recommends Assistive Technology or Home Modifications, the funding for those actual items or building works will typically come from your Capital Supports budget, which our therapists will help you apply for using detailed clinical justifications.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need a referral to see an Occupational Therapist at Care Loop Health?
While many of our participants are referred by their NDIS Support Coordinators or Local Area Coordinators (LACs), you can also self-refer directly through our website. You do not need a formal doctor's referral to access our NDIS-funded services.
How long does an OT assessment usually take?
An initial functional assessment typically takes between 1.5 to 2 hours of face-to-face time in your home environment. Following the visit, our therapist will spend several hours drafting the comprehensive NDIA-compliant report for your plan review.
